Pest Mites

There are several species of pest mites that can cause damage to plants.  Some are readily visible, where as many others require a microscope or hand lens to be seen.  One major differentiating character of adult mites is that most have 8 legs, while insects only have 6.  Also mites do not have wings; they instead disperse by wind currents.  Another diagnostic feature is that some species of mites spin webbing on plant leaves to protect immatures and eggs
